Popo’s MIRACLE FIGHT with Neuro FIP from Paralysis to Jump

“This is a story about miracles.”

I remember every detail of  that day. It rained heavily in London and my cat Popo had a high fever. In fact, since the last month, she has some "signs," such as weakness in her hind legs, such as decreasing in eating. But when the doctor gave her an injection of antibiotic, the symptoms briefly improved. At first I thought, or maybe it was just the nervous of moving home, I never thought it was something very serious.

Before the treatment

Until March 12, 2023, which was also her one-years old birthday, Po Po went to the emergency room because of a high fever.

We were supposed to have friends over to celebrate her lovely one-years old birthday, but we had to cancel due to the sudden onset of fever.

My friend and I took Popo to a hospital in Wembley in the rain, and because it was not within the regular office hours, we had to choose from a 24-hour emergency veterinarian.

Popo's symptoms at the time: a high fever, has not urinated for two days, a plummeting appetite, weak hind legs.

The doctor commented: I think she's just tired from the flight. He gave me a painkiller then sent us home.

Didn't even suggest us for a further test, even ignored when I asked to help her urinate problem.

That night, we followed doctor's saying and took the painkillers. The next day, PoPo couldn't stand up.

The situation plummeted and the next day I had to go back to the emergency room with Popo.

It was 7 o'clock in the morning, and they asked me to come to the emergency room within half an hour. I asked if I could make an appointment at 8 o'clock, because Po Po could not stand up, but her looking was stable. The voice on the phone said no.

When I saw the bill at last, I finally understood that the reason why they insisted me to arrive before 8 is because there is an extra-charge of more than 100pounds on non-office hour which is before 8am.

We did a lot of tests in the veterinary : blood tests, and some laboratory tests, extra tests. With the result of some laboratory test comes about 10days. Anyway, everything they have I nearly done, but popo had suffered from exhaustion.

The doctor told me to leave Popo there, and when I was ready to sign the agreement paper, I saw the sentence of allowing them to have right to estimate any emergency action to the cat.

I don't feel trust in them. A lot. I said no.

Because yesterday, after the painkillers they prescribed, popo happened to get worse. And I know she would never want to stay in somewhere away from her closest one when then was the hardest time she’s going though.

Then I took Popo home.

By this time I was close to despair.

Search the FIP Medicine

On the third day, she was getting worse and worse. This time I called an  in-home vet to come for check. Checking at home was the most secure way I could think of to help loosen her stress.

It was also the first time I had noticed the term – FIP.

The in-home veterinarian reviewed her blood tests and he did some further tests , to have a conclusion that she was highly suspended to suffer from Fip.

I stayed up all night searching for information about the disease.

Finally, after a few days searching, I got to know two people in some forum, one is the owner of a cat who once suffered from the disease and now recovered, another one was a blogger on the topic of cat.

They gave me a lot of helping information. After the blogger read the report, he asked me to find the source of 441 immediately. He said his A/G(alb/glob) index was already as low as 0.3 and he couldn't understand why the first two doctors hadn't diagnosed Popo with fip.

The other was the owner of the cat had the same diesease, who told me to join a group right away.

I finally joined the fip warrior group at 3am, london time. They were quick to react.

I was asked to fill out a series of very detailed questions, submit blood tests, make a 30 seconds video of the cat walking, take pictures of its eyeballs, and so on.

It was the first time I felt like someone cared about what was happening to us.

After they confirmed all the consultations, they told me that I can collect my dose of meditation from a volunteer at 8: 00 a.m morning next day.

I was still in a very confused state.

Because this medicine, is to inject. And, you know, I have to do it by myself

Popo's First GS Injection and response

A  couple from Hong Kong and Taiwan offered me the help, who were also part of the group. They knew my story, came to my house and taught me about injections.

It‘s one transparent bottle with green cap and no any label. Actually, I didn't know it is Lucky 20 injection.

Finally, that day, we took our first shot.

That day, Popo was paralyzed. Paralyzed means she can only move her eyes.

I learned to help her defecate, urinate, feed. It all happened so fast, there was no time to react.

Fortunately, we got the first shot. I didn't know about the disease, and the drug wasn't part of the routine treatment in the area. So I don't know what will be happen with the shot.

The next morning after the injection, I felt something moving above my head. I opened my eyes and saw that it was PoPo. She was getting off the couch and walking back to her cat bed.

My heart was beating the whole time. she moved.

“Is it the injection? I couldn't believe it, but she went from being paralyzed to walking with only one dose injection.”

Popo's improvement during the FIP TREATMENT

After a week, PoPo was getting used to walking on her own, but she was still staggering.

2 week later, she tried to jump on the cat tree that she couldn't jump on when she was paralyzed.

A month later, she was almost completely fine. Good enough to run around the garden with her tail high up in the air. She enjoyed  this freedom very much. She was finally self-controllable..

She can run, jump and even have more strength than before. As she shows in the video.

Popo’s treatment after 45 DAYS injection on 6th May 2023

It's been over a year now, and it's been more than a year since we stopped needling.

Popo has changed from the paralyzed kitten to the healthy one now, and even gained a lot of weight.

She's very happy now.

It all stems from the help of this organization, and the people who helped along the way.

Let me have one explain, cause I was afraid that the Lab blood test would irritate her, I didn't go for the Lab test at the end of Popo treatment last year. Let me explain, because I was afraid that the experimental blood test would stimulate her, and I could feel clearly that she is totally healthy, she was so active, so I didn't go for the examination at the end of my treatment last year. It wasn't until this year when I needed to sterilize her that I went for the Lab blood test.

But  I don't suggest cat parents imitate me, the blood test is necessary and important to get to know cat conditions well.

As the picture shows in the following pictures, Popo's blood data was very bad at the beginning of the treatment, it was only A/g 0.3, my vet says hers data is very good, the A/G rate is 0.6 now.

Treatment Dosage and improvement details

For anyone hoping to make a reference, the following are the symptoms and dosage of our treatment process according to dates.

4.3.2023
Popo first developed symptoms when she was in foster care for one week. I was being told that she started to walk with a limp and decreased in eating.

7.3.2023
That day we flew from Hong Kong to London. Popo had a fever and was taken to the vet before the flight , she had been given antibiotic and the vet told us her situation was okay to fly.

11.3.2023
After settled in London for a few days, probably due to antibiotics, Popo did not appear any fever, but on March 11th she came down with a high fever suddenly and did not urinate for two days. We went to the emergency immediately. The doctor only prescribed painkillers and said it was probably due to travel stress.

12.3.2023
Her back legs took a turn for the worse and she couldn't stand up. We went back to the emergency again immediately.  The blood test reported an alb / glob of 0.3. The doctor still did not confirm FIP.

14.03.2023
PoPo's lower body is nearly paralyzed(Neuro FIP), her eyes cloudy(Ocular FIP).

15.03.2023
Popo is basically paralyzed and needs to defecate, urinate and feed by other. Only the eyes are able to move. A veterinarian came to the home to check and suggested a high probability of having FIP.

19.03.2023
I found someone in an online  forum and was being recommended to join fipwarrior for further examination. They responded quickly and, after a series of questions, they confirmed that Popo had FIP.

20.03.2023(Begin first Injection)
In the morning, the volunteer sent the first bottle of 441 to me. A couple their cat had once had fip before then recovered came to help Po Po to get the first shot, and by this time she had been paralyzed for nearly a week.

Her weight at the time was 2.8 kg, dosage is 12mg/kg. A dose of 1.7 ml Lucky 20 GS injection would be  given once a day during the meditated process.

21.03.2023(After 1 does injection treatment)
The morning after the first shot, Popo could move her body. She went from being completely paralyzed to being able to move from the couch to the cat bed.

24.03.2023
Popo can walk on her own.

06.04.2023
Popo can jump to the cat tree.

28.04.2023
Because the situation of Popo was stable and had seem returning to normal, the supervisor  recommended that it be stable by switching from injections to oral tablets.

The dose change to 8kg per day with oral tablets.  At that time, Popo weighed 3.6 kg.

07.05.2023
PoPo can run very fast, seem to be  back to normal completely.

Adhere to treatment and thanks lovely people

After first injection, I strictly adhered to the time and dosage set by the group.

I never knew how to give an injection, and then I could finish it with one hand.

From the beginning of works took time up to few hours, after a certain period I could finish the injection by myself in ten seconds. Both Popo and I had passed the challenge.

I don't know how to thank the people who taught me the injection, they said to me, if you want to thank, in the future when others are in need, help him. Let the good wills pass on.

The world is still great because of the existence of these people. Dee, Nina and Nancy in the FIP group as well as the other volunteers they helped us selflessly.

Whether it's the daily check up for popo’s situations, or the encouraging words full of warmth. They are certainly the angel people who deserve praise.
